Beyond the ducts
Ductwork is only part of the air path. The blower wheel, the furnace compartment, and the evaporator coil handle every cubic foot of air your system moves, and they collect dust just as readily as the ducts do. A blower wheel caked with debris moves less air and draws more power. A dirty coil insulates itself, so the air conditioner runs longer to reach the same temperature and the coil stays wet longer, which encourages microbial growth. What an HVAC system cleaning includes
We open the air handler and clean the blower wheel and housing, the furnace compartment, and the accessible surfaces of the evaporator coil. We clear the condensate drain pan and check that it drains freely. Where the coil is heavily fouled we use the appropriate coil cleaner and rinse method for the coil type. We inspect the filter setup and let you know if the size or rating is working against you. Photos before and after come standard.
When to have it done
HVAC system cleaning pairs naturally with a full duct cleaning, since a clean duct system fed by a dirty blower gets dirty again quickly. It is also worth scheduling on its own if the system has never been serviced, if airflow at the registers seems weak, if the coil has visible buildup, or if you notice a musty smell when the air conditioner starts.
